Fall Necessity

The first thing I invest in for the fall season is a few pairs of boots. I feel like you can have a very simple outfit and the boots bring it all together! This is one thing that I will splurge on if I found a pair that is worth the price. These boots are at different price points, but I thought each boot fit every type of style. The red wedge booties are next on my list! Which ones do you like?

Fading Into Fall

First off I should say I have "faded" from the blogesphere. Sorry about that..I have been busy just like YOU and have not made a great enough effort to fit in blogging. I miss it...I really do, and so this week is the week that I shall write it into my daily agenda and see if I can keep up!

Fall is my favorite season for many reasons...but one of the biggest reasons is because I love my Fall wardrobe! Scarves, boots, hats, vests, fur, and the list goes on. If you follow me on Instagram (@kml88) you saw my Saturday outfit and I promised an outfit breakdown...so here it is:

Hat: World Market
Sunnies: Tory Burch
Striped long sleeve: J.Crew
Denim Button-up: Tj Maxx
Skinny Jeans: Express
Boots: Unity by Carlos Santana at Famous Footwear
Earrings: Lola
Necklace: Dillards
Lips: Kate for Rimmel, number 60

For this look I layered up, because while it was cold outside I felt like it wasn't jacket worthy cold... so I layered up to keep warm! (I hate lugging around a jacket when I am out and about!)

I AM READY TO BLOG IT UP THIS WEEK..SO STAY TUNED! (I really promise)

Cardigan Whore

Yep, you read that right..I am a cardigan whore! It is a desperate need of mine to own a cardigan in every single color and pattern imaginable! I love them because they can be effortlessly casual (yet still cute) or you can dress them up. It is my number one closet necessity. I have been asked many times "If I want to start dressing better and putting outfits together, what what piece do you suggest I start with?" My answer is ALWAYS go get some cardigans.

I was at Target this past weekend and spotted these super adorable "boyfriend" cardigans. Perfect length, perfect colors. Since many of you already know, I am on a shopping ban..which  just to update you, I have been doing amazing! I will admit though, I am very spoiled by my husband and my parents which has made this 90 (or 60 haha) day shopping ban a bit easier. My Dad decided to buy me the red, black, and mustard cardigans since they were 15.00 instead of 20.00 and he knows I am addicted to them. When I am off my shopping ban I will proceed to buy every other color. The end. Now go go get 'em before they sell out. You won't find any more like 'em.

Currently Obsessed

Currently Obsessed

My current obsessions include all of these items pictured above! As most of you know, I am on a 90 day shopping ban so I am making a long, long list of items I want when this stinkin ban is overrrrrr!!!!!

I have recently become obsessed with elephants..why? I dunno, but the ones I have been spotting lately are super super cute!

Polka dots and Stripes are still part of my faves as well as monograms!

You Can't go wrong with a fabulous cardi or a scarf that goes with everything.

Boyfriend jeans? The ONLY jeans to wear..comfy AND cute!!

Black studs? So different than pearls or diamonds and I am in love with these Kate Spade ones!

I have yet to try a Peplum shirt, but I can't wait to get my hands on one! This one features an exposed zipper in the back!

These House of Harlow sunnies are on sale right now and I am dyyyyyying because I can't snatch them up! Unique shape, and I LOVE the black tint!

Gap City Flat. They are sooooo comfortable...I have my Sister wearing them now!!

Check out those Polka dot loafers from the Gap...they could make a blah outfit pop in a matter of seconds..just by slipping them on!

Essie always has fabulous colors, and for the Fall I have my eyes on these two!

These are a few items I am currently obsessed with! What are your new obsessions for Fall? I love doing these Polyvore sets of all things I am obsessed with right now..do you like them?!

Well I have been super busy as I am sure you all could tell. I have had a move, new job, and three deaths in my family. It has definitely been enough to keep a girl busy! I wanted to start off with an easy DIY idea to hop back in the routine of things! For this Friday, I decided to do a "Plus One Pedicure". Lately, I have been obsessed with the classic Black & White so I decided to go with it on my toes as well! What do you think? I have gotten compliments on it already! Different for sure, but I like!!

Routine

Hey! Hope your week has been going great for you! I have been extra busy, and the evening time seems to zip by! I thought I would post a quick blog over my lunch break on my Sunday routine!

Every Sunday I outfit plan..

This is what my bedroom looks like on a Sunday evening...I find that mornings are so much less hectic when I can walk into my closet and see an outfit sitting there planned down to the jewelry I want to wear!

Voila! No more "Oh crap I am late because I am standing in a closet full of clothes, but have nothing to  wear!"

Happy Monday!

Hello! Hope everyone had a wonderful Monday, I know I did! First off, I got to meet my classroom kiddos today and I fell in love with each one of them! They are so sweet and I can't wait to watch them grow and learn this year! Here is my Monday fashiondiaries:

A simple cardi, LOVE tee, and coral flats! I try to be practical in my outfits for the fact that I am chasing kids around outside at recess, on the floor, helping my kids to be independent at the lunch table (which totally messes with my OCD when I see half the food on their forehead and the other half on the floor..I know it will get better though!) Sometimes I just want to throw on a skirt or dress or wedges and I take a risk for one day! If you follow me on IG, you know the story behind this picture as to why I am  in the grass with my Sophie girl. (@kml88)

Also, last night I posted this picture on IG, and I can tell it was a tease for a few of you! I posted this picture, took a shower, went to bed..so thats why I didn't post the recipe right away! As I told a few of you on Instagram I modified a recipe that I found on pinterest...First off, I will give you the original recipe, then I will post how I modified it. I converted the sugar measurement to Truvia measurement since I drink sweet tea so much, I didn't want to pump myself full of "real" sugar!

Original Recipe:

Ingredients -
5 - 8  Family size Tea Bags. (or 12 regular Tea Bags)
( I prefer  #1 Luzianne or  #2 Liptons Brand Teas.)
1 Quart  (4 Cups) - Boiling Water
3 Quarts (12 cups) - Cool Water
1 1/2 - 2 (one & a half) - Cups Sugar.
1/4 teaspoon - Baking Soda (this IS the SECRET Ingredient!!)

Directions -
1.  Sprinkle baking soda into a pitcher (I use a gallon-size Mason Jar but many people have voiced concerns about pouring boiling water into a glass container, so use whatever container you'd like)
Add Tea bags to the pitcher/baking soda,
Pour Boiling water over tea bags,
Cover and allow to steep for 15 minutes.
(cravingcomfort.blogspot.com)

Kyleigh's Modified Recipe:

6 tea bags (luzianne)
4C boiling water
10 C cool water
1/2- 3/4 C Truvia (3/4 if you want it more sweet) I added the sugar to the boiling water which eliminates any sugar crystals gathering at the bottom of the pitcher!
1/4 t baking soda

Follow the rest of the recipe as is!

FINALLY...A DIY Friday!

Hey everyone, I hope you had a wonderful week! I have missed doing the DIY Fridays and thought I better get back on track quick! This Friday I tried a coffee face scrub and loved it, so of course I wanted to share it with you!

Mix:
1 C fresh ground coffee
1/2 C brown sugar
1/2 C salt
1/2 cup coconut oil

Add the coconut oil then microwave the mixture for 10 seconds at a time until the mixture gets nice and moistened!

Massage into face and then let set for five minutes..rinse,  and voila!!
{And in case you were wondering...yes it tastes like salty coffee}

Also here is my open house fashiondiaries! I absolutely LOVE this "Winnie Pant" from J.Crew. They come in this amazing color, black, or gray! They have the perfect fit to where yes, it looks like I am dressed up in dress pants, but I don't feel that way at all. For a Preschool teacher, that is key! The lace top and fun elephant necklace are both from J.Crew as well! The jean jacket (It is freezing cold in my classroom)  is from American Eagle ...High school years. The flats are VERY comfy, from Payless!

Have a fun weekend, you will hear from me again MONDAY! XXO~K

Update!

Hello there! I have had a semi insane week this week! I started my new job, and it has been exciting yet exhausting! I absolutely love it and can't wait for the kids to start school! I have been working away getting the room all ready for tiny people to come and break it in.

Shopping Ban: so far, so good! I have survived many temptations.. a cousin that WORKS at TJ, my Sister coming to shop, getting rewards money to TJ and Nordies, etc. etc. etc.  I have however been put on a 60 day shopping ban instead of a 90! WOO HOO!! Brett thought I wouldn't make it to 90 days and didn't want me to fail. I may still prove him wrong, it just depends on how much super cute Fall items I come in contact with. My new date is September 16th...and its already August, so I know I can win this challenge!

For those of you that are new to the blog.. I am a preschool teacher, so my outfits are very comfortable, colorful, functional, and most of all AFFORDABLE. Here are a couple of my favorite type of outfits for a typical day of teaching..

Cardigan: Target
Top: 5.00 Old Navy
Flats: Gap
Skinnies: A tiny hole in the wall boutique
Monogram necklace: moonandlola.com (I get asked everyday where this is from!)

Petal Pink top: Gap
Skinnies: Mint green Matchstick cords, J.Crew
Flats: Minnetonka..comfiest EVERRR
Sunnies: Tory Burch

I must confess...my closet is filled with cardigans and skinny jeans..and flats!

Oh and who has missed DIY FRIDAYS?? I know I have, so that shall resume TOMORROW!! XXO~K

Temptation Averted

Today I face temptation number two. Rewards bucks from my two faves... Nordies and TJ! I squealed when I saw these sitting in the mailbox and was quickly reminded that I can't use them until SEPTEMBERRRR!!! I can honestly report that I have been to all my favorite stores without cheating! I am pretty proud of myself...we shall see how long this lasts...

90 Day Ban...

So, if you follow me on Instagram you know that I have been challenged to a 90 day shopping ban...(GASP!). Don't worry my fellow fashionistas, I didn't agree to this until AFTER I bought my Fall wardrobe at J.crew! The rules of the ban are this: NO CLOTHES, NO FINGERNAIL POLISH, NO SHOES, SUNGLASSES, ETC..(pretty much nothing to do with a closet or wardrobe). I can buy of course, anything that has to do with the house, makeup, and necessities like that.

Yesterday I had my first temptation..my Sister and Niece came to visit. Like I said on IG I would report on my blog. I resisted the temptation and passed the test!!!! My Sister even offered to buy me a pair of shoes as a "gift" that I could pay her back at the end of the 90 day test!!!! I thought long and hard about it, because I know they will be sold out by the time my ban is over. I can report I stayed true to the challenge and said no!!! I will continue to report on my temptations (I am sure there are many more to come) and put together many different outfits with the clothes I have in my closet. I usually add 3-4 tops a month so it is easy to create different outfits. Want to know a fun fact? I have NEVER and I mean NEVER worn the same thing in my fashiondiaries on Instagram! So this 90 day ban is going to make it very hard to create new and different outfits. Follow along..I will definitely need the encouragement!!!

Being the Husband of a Fashionista

My husband, Brett is such a sweetie. He lets his OCD, Fashionista wife do her thing. Yesterday as we were in the closet picking out outfits, I realized its not easy being the husband of an OCD Fashionista! Here's how our closet conversation went..

Him- "Babe does this shirt look ok with these shorts?"
Me- "Mmmm I really think that shade of gray is a shade too dark for those shorts!"
Him- "Ok what about this one?
Me- "Mmm that pattern is too busy for those shorts"
Him-  "Ok..what about THESE shorts then?"
Me- "Mmm well now those shorts don't really go with your Sperrys."
Him-" Ok well here is this shirt..like it?
Me-"NOOOO WAYYYY"
Him- "Yah I didn't really like it either" Silence..Silence..Silence
Him- "Babe I think I found the shirt that goes with these shorts!!!!!"
Me- "Oh yah thats perfect the blues match and the shorts go perf with the Sperrys."
Him- (breathes huge sigh of relief)
Me- "I'm Sorry, Do I wear you out?"

I have to say my Husband stays very, very patient with me. My OCD Fashionista tendencies focus on shades of color and pattern mixing, and I have to remember that guys dress for comfort. PERIOD. They don't care that blues don't match up... they don't care if their shorts don't flow with their Sperrys and they don't care if they are dressy on top and casual on the bottom!

I may or may not have taken him to Express and put together outfits and bought them to where I don't have to be involved as much, and I don't wear him out when we are picking outfits out in the morning!

See.. Doesn't he look so cute here??

Chambray Love

If there is one thing that I constantly go to in my closet, I would have to say it is my denim chambray shirt! I absolutely love it..It has transitioned from Fall to summer, and I just love pieces like that!! I found  mine at Target for a great price back in the Fall, but I see them at most stores now. Here are a few ways that I have worn my chambray...

Needless to say.. if you don't have a chambray shirt...GET ONE!!! It adds a unique, fun look to a variety of outfits!!! I prefer a lighter color...

A Change of Heart...

I have never really liked stripes...they never appealed to me in clothing, and to be quite honest I never owned anything with stripes until this year! Now I am in LOVE with stripes...When I start to love something, I really have to watch myself, because before I know it I will have a closet full of stripes, or neons, or polka dots. I was recently at Target Saturday, Sunday, Monday  and noticed they had some really awesome stripes going on. I decided to put together a Polyvore set for all my classyclosetconfessions friends! These are all super affordable pieces, and I tried to include everyones different take on stripes... not so much a stripe fan? Maybe start out with some flats. Lovin' stripes like me? Go for the dresses! Kinda don't know? Try this super cute top with a peter pan collar!

Stripes

Yes the chair is random but super cute right? And I can't believe its at TARGET!!

Oh and the flats are from American Eagle..just a heads up! You can find out all the deets here

And here are my casual stripes I had on today!! XXO~K

Kyleigh's Summer Must Haves!

Kyleigh's Summer Must Haves!

Get summer ready with my list of must haves!!!

1. SUNGLASSES- my choice for summer sunglasses are BIG ones. Ones that will cover my eyes AND protect me from crows feet and under eye wrinkles!

2. Swimsuit- This year choose a BOLD color. I am loving all things royal blue at the moment!

3. MOISTURIZE- especially those lips. Josie Maran has a great moisturizing line!

4. Minimal Makeup- In the heat of summer my makeup routine is maybe 5 minutes. My every day look consists of mascara, foundation and bronzer. I can't wait to try this airbrush foundation from Sephora!!

5. Comfy, cute sandals- I picked this silver color because they will go with EVERYTHING.

6. NO MORE BOOTY SHORTS LADIES- This year the longer, preppy shorts are in and I am oh so glad! I have found my favorite ones from J.CREW but these are from Target and are super cute as well! Don't be afraid to get fun colors and pair with a simple white v-neck...cute and comfy and out the door you go!

7. Sun hat- Find a cute one and wear it! Not only does it protect your hair from getting dry and nasty from the sun it also keeps the sun off your face and shoulders...think about those wrinkles ladies!!

8. Polish- Pick a bright fun color. Its a great way to add color to your summer look!

9. Bronzer- define your face a bit for that perfect sunkissed look!

10. SUNSCREEN- This is a hard one for me...I have never worn sunscreen in my life because I have NEVER been sunburnt but as I am getting ready to turn 24 I want to do as much prevention for wrinkles as possible so I am forcing myself to remember that sunscreen!

11. Lips- Since makeup is minimal go for a fun coral or pink color! It will add some color to your face without looking like a clown since you won't have eyeshadow and blush on :)

I am so happy to be back to blogging!! Look for fun posts throughout the week! XXO ~K

Interview Options

Ok everyone, I have an interview scheduled for this week (prayers please!) and the fashionista that I am, I am worried about what I should wear. I know I should keep it simple and relaxed, not too distracting, and keep along the guidelines of business casual. If you follow my fashiondiaries on Instagram, you know I am everything but those things. I love bright colors and crazy patterns, pattern mixing, and fun shoes! I decided to get on Polyvore and create an interview set, which I shouldn't have done because now I want to go buy these exact pieces and the nearest shopping center to me is AN HOUR AND A HALF AWAY!! Anyway, I figured I would share this with all of my classyclosetconfession friends in case you too may have an interview or business casual event in your future! You can find the info on these affordable pieces here.

Grapes + DIY...

So for this Friday's DIY sesh I decided to go with a GRAPE FACIAL...cray right? Well according to Women's Day mag, women for Chile credit grapes for their glowing skin. Take a handful of grapes, add 2 tablespoons of flour and mash into a paste. Leave on face for 10 minutes then rinse with warm water.  voila, beautifuly glowy skin!!

Wash your grapes

Smash your grapes

Add in the Flour (forgot to take a pic)

Apply to face and leave for 10 minutes. Yes that is a grape particle on my face. Do I care that I look crazy? ..No not really :) Happy Friday!!!!!
